Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football and volunteering for the community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children born to Lucious Selmon and Jessie. The family lived on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. Also, he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. All three became All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the top lineman from the USA. Lee Roy won two championships, and the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as the Oklahoma's starting linebacker. Third scholarship he was named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a degree as an educator. Fourth-year service in college Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. Following graduation Lee Roy moved to Tampa and spent the next 9 years with the Buccaneers. Three times, he was named All-Pro. Then he began his business career. By 1988 he had become an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being one of the top 10 youngsters of the United States. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing 256 pounds. He was captain of his college team in the year 1975. He joined the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. The College Football Hall of Fame recognized the player on the 28th of October, the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
