Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned liberal news website has a TV personality as well as a writer and an philanthropist. She moved from Greece to England when she was 16 years old, and earned an MA at Cambridge University in Economics. At 21 she became president of the famed debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. She was an author for a conservative newspaper after her graduation. When The Huffington Post launched a year later, she developed an online platform to voice opinions which offered critiques of political scenarios. It was her celebrity that has led to the attraction of many famous contributors who shared their views on current events, politics and culture. Arianna became famous when she made the decision to run for a non-partisan position in the California recall election to replace the Governor Davis. Aside from that, Arianna also spearheaded a Detroit initiative to promote fuel-efficient vehicles. She was named one of the Most influential women in media by Forbes in 2009, and was awarded the 12th place in this list. In the same year Guardian included her in the 100 most influential media on their list. In 2011 AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post and made her president of that media group which included many at the time-current AOL products, such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos who was who was a consultant in management as well as a journalist. While she was very close to her father, it was her bond with her mother which shaped her character. From her early years, she displayed leadership qualities that are still highly regarded. When she moved to England, she was 16 to continue her education and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. In college, she was a member of the Cambridge Union, a college debate club. Being the third woman president and first foreigner, she served as the head of Cambridge Union. The year 1972 was the year her master's in Economics was conferred. She was a journalist television host, and a columnist after her graduation. She was on the show with Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began to write her own novels with his assistance.
